Fullscreen toggle button

Today I added full-screen functionality to the FLV Player. In the upper right corner of the FLV Player interface I added a button that can toggle the player between
normal size - the FLV Player’s height and width as defined by you
and
full-screen size - height and width of your screen.

When switching between normal and full-screen player size, the aspect ratio of the movie is maintained and the player’s interface is redrawn to fit the new video dimensions in a natural way.

Check it out for yourself with the FLV Player example on the FLV Player download page.

Hi, I like this product. Are there any flashvars I can include in the code to control things like fonts and colors?

Would you be willing to sell a version of the FLA file?

  2. Theo Lagendijk Says:

Hi Chad, thanks for your interest in FLVPlayer. I haven’t yet implemented flash vars for fonts and colors but I was planning to do that some time soon. Yes sure, I’m willing to sell you the FLVPlayer sources. I will email you when I’m back at home after the weekend.

    Hi,
I like your FLV Player but i found fullsecreen button is not working. Is it free to use in my commercial website or it has any copyright issue. Please let me know the details about the price and copyright issues as soon as possible. Please write me to in my email id

    Hi Siplu,

Thanks for your interest in FLVPlayer.

the fullscreen button should be working. Are you using the right HTML embedding code. It should contain allowFullScreen=”true”.
You can freely use my player on your commercial site. But please donate something to the project.

Have fun with the FLVPlayer and let me know when you have it online somewhere!

    Kind regards,
    Theo Lagendijk

Hi there, thanks for your flvplayer. It has a very clean interface.
One question, is there a way to keep it from playing a video as soon as the page loads?

  6. Theo Lagendijk Says:

    Hi Leslie,

I’m glad you like the FLV Player interface. I just added a “autoplay” parameter for you. You can now selected in the form on the download page whether you want your movie to automatically start playing your video or not.

When in full-screen mode, the interface elements (seek bar, info button, and particularly the large pause button) will not go away. It seems like those things should fade after a few seconds of the mouse not moving / idling. Is this being addressed? Also, will the AS3 source be released at any point? I’d love to tinker with what you’ve made and possibly customize the graphics for my site.

    Thanks!

    Hi Neil C. Obremski,

Your absolutely right, it would be much nicer if the interface elements would fade away when your mouse is inactive for a while. Good point. Thanks!
I have not been updating the FLV Player for a while, but right now I’m creating Flash content for a client that wants to use my FLVPlayer and extend it’s functionality a bit and reskin it. So I will be updating my AS3 sources. I can blog about my updates and send you a copy of the source when I feel comfortable with it’s state. (Right now it’s not documented at all.)
Expect some updates on this blog in the next couple of weeks! And I’ll try to remember to mail you the AS3 sources.

I really like your player but the fullscreen button does not work in the current version of IE 8, it works fine for me in firefox and chrome. http://www.micfri.com/?page_id=418 is what I was testing it on, allowFullScreen is “true” which it did work in firefox and chrome like I said.

Do you know why this could be?

  11. Clint Mclean Says:

Same problem with the fullscreen, doesn’t work in IE. Is there anything we can do about that?
